The Cedar Rapids Brewing Society will host its August happy hour in the taproom at Big Grove Solon on Sunday, August 25th, from 3-5 pm. Big Grove will be tapping a new English porter, Afternoon Gatekeeper, a GABF Pro-Am entry brewed with CRBS club member Travis Cook based on the recipe he used in the recent CRBS wort rally. The beer will also be available in a cask on Sunday during the event.
The wort rally, hosted by CRBS, had 16 entries judged by Big Grove brewing staff including Kent Ball, a BJCP-certified judge. The competition was stewarded by Mark Jensen, who also brewed the wort for the rally. The winner was then given the opportunity to brew his beer on the system at Big Grove Solon.
The Cedar Rapids Brewing Society is a 501(c)(7) social club that meets in the Cedar Rapids area. Happy hours are held the last Sunday of each month and give the public a chance to sample beer, mead, wine, and cider produced by club members and connect with the local brewing community.
