Lion Bridge Brewery once again is coming to save the usual bleak month of January by gracing us with some wonderful tasting beers all through the month as “Barrel-Aged January” is back!!!

In the day and age where hazy IPAs, fruited sours, and pastry stouts are the craze and dominate the release landscape of craft beer, Lion Bridge brewery in Cedar Rapids release a style of beer that my taste buds have been craving….a farmhouse ale! YES! REJOICE! As much as I love every style of beer I was ready for this one to hit my lips! Brett, barnyard funk, and wonderful hop aroma, exactly what I needed!
*STYLE – Farmhouse Ale *ABV – 5% *AVAILABILITY – On tap and in bottles
We hand-selected a blend of Brettanomyces and wild beer from our wood program and then dry-hopped it with Vic Secret hops and naturally carbonated kegs and bottles.
The nose is superb. Vic secret hops pair perfectly with the brett to give it that wet hay/barnyard smell that makes farmhouse ales so spectacular. First sip was exactly what I was hoping for, hops up front with the funk on the back of the tongue, wonderful dry finish and slightly tart – just right and just what I was looking for in this beer!
If you’re a funk head, love brett, and are looking to go back in time a bit in the craft world, this beer is a must try! It’s on tap now or you can stock up your cellar as it’s available in bottles too! Get out there and DRINK THIS beer!
Lion Bridge Brewing is bringing back two fall favorites of mine as Spice Must Flow and Zombie Awakening will be available in cans and on draft starting today (9/15)! Here’s more on each of these fall favorites:
SPICE MUST FLOW – 7% ABV A melange of Maple and Saigon Cinnamon meld with a robust black ale to form this luxurious treat. He (or she, or they) who controls the Spice, controls the universe!
ZOMBIE AWAKENING – 7% ABV Black as the inside of a buried coffin, with enough Dash dark roast coffee to put a pep in the step of even the most lumbering undead walker
Lion Bridge Brewing is ringing in the month of September with the release of two beers. Oktobott 3000 and Beer at Work will be ready for you when the taproom opens Sept. 1st @ 3:00 p.m. Here’s more on these two brews below:
Oktobot 3000 (Barrel-Aged Imperial Märzen, 8.5%abv) – A fusion brew with German and Czech roots in the recipe as well as the name (“robot” is a word with Czech origins). Munich and Bohemian Pilsner Malt are the motherboard to this amped up version of the style, while 7 months in Willett Rye Whiskey barrels greases the cogs and makes sure it all computes.
Beer at Work (Australian-style IPA, 7.0%abv) – Heavily dry-hopped with Australian Vic Secret and a touch of New Zealand Motueka, this beer exhibits strong tropical fruit flavors known to come from the land down under where women glow and men plunder.
