Mortalis Brewing coming to Iowa via Pequod! Plus, Untitled Art, Blackstack, Humble Forager, Phase Three, Aslin, and Weldwerks!

Mortalis Brewing Company was founded in 2017, but its origin dates to many years before then. Formed in Upstate NY, Mortalis was selected as a winner of the Brew in Livingston County business plan competition in 2017. Officially opening its doors in August of 2018, Mortalis has gone on to successfully fund a Kickstarter, expand 500% beyond its original capacity, become the first to brew an everything bagel DIPA & strawberry cheesecake milkshake, and been privileged enough to work with some of the greatest craft breweries in the world. As Mortalis continues to grow and expand, the focus remains on trying to produce the best beer possible and is grounded in the belief that beer is about human connection. A connection that we are all mortals in this realm with stories to tell, dreams to live, and beers to share. We are all Mortalis.

Red, White and Blue (Arkane Collab)

This Fruited Sour is brewed in celebration of July 4th. Virtually brewed with our good friends at Arkane_Aleworks in Florida. We conditioned this sour on raspberry, blueberry, Madagascar vanilla, and America mix skittles.

Gemini – Raspberry + Sweet Cherry + Lime (bomb pop)

This fruited sour is part of our Gemini Series that focuses on small one-off batches. The duality of complementary and sometime contrasting fruits are blended with other adjuncts to enrich the flavors even further. This version features Raspberry, Sweet Cherry, Lime, and Blue Raspberry (our favorite summertime popsicle).

Boat Drinks 5

This Sour Ale is the 5th version brewed with Swiftwater Brewing. Inspired by a Mai Tia, we have blended pineapple, orange, lime, and Orgeat from Fee Brothers. Huge marzipan nose followed by a massive dose of juicy tropical fruit that prepares you for another adventurous sip. “Goonies Never Say Die!”

From Hawaii with Love – Golden Stout

This Golden Stout blends Kona coffee from Kailua-Kona Hawaii with toasted coconut, and pineapple. Aloha

This Fruited Sour blends all your favorite flavors from a yogurt parfait. Strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, and granola are slathered with creamy yogurt. Always watching.

NYX – Imperial Stout with coconut

This Imperial Stout is brewed with cold steeped roasted barley and complex malts to bring about a brownie like aroma and flavor that uniquely compliments the toasted coconut. It has a rich and deliciously smooth body that fights for control of your soul. This beer is pitch black in color and like the Goddess of Night, when she has you, there is no turning back!⠀

Gemini – Mango + Raspberry + Fruit Burst

This fruited sour is part of our Gemini Series that focuses on small one-off batches. The duality of complementary and sometime contrasting fruits are blended with other adjuncts to enrich the flavors even further. This version features Mango, Raspberry and gusher candy.

Hydra – Raspberry +Sweet Cherry + Key Lime

This Fruited Sour blends Key Lime, Raspberry, and Sweet Cherries together to form just one of this monster’s many heads. Keep your eyes peeled for even more flavor combinations.

Gemini – Strawberry + Kiwi + Starburst –

Highly Concentrated (collab w/Beer Tree) – DBL HAZY IPA

This Double IPA was brewed in collaboration with Beer Tree Brew Co We have saturated the base with a blend of Incognito and Lupomax hops including, Citra, Rakau, Strata, Azacca, Idaho7, and Mosiac. The blend provides a tropical fruit explosion.

EOS – Imperial Stout w/Raspberry

This Imperial Stout showcases Dominican cacao nibs and raspberry puree. The flavors blend together to create a thick, decadent chocolate covered raspberry.

Minotaur- Planters Punch

Planters Punch Sour (Fruited Sour). This Cocktail Inspired Sour blends pineapple, key lime, passion fruit, oranges, and golden rum soaked raisins to create a maze of depth. We suggest to not let him catch you.

Freshly squeezed key limes, vanilla beans, and just a hint of graham cracker pair perfectly with the tart wheat based beer in our Key Lime Pie Sour Ale. We colored a bit outside the lines to recreate our favorite summer dessert, adding over 250 lbs of key lime puree for the signature citrus character, lactose and vanilla beans for the pie filling, with a dash of graham cracker for the crust.

This hazy brew features Citra, El Dorado, and Mosaic hops, and is popping off with grapefruit, lime, mango, and resiny tropical fruit flavors.

DDH Pearlescent Tides Hazy DBL IPA

Bringin’ Extra Sexy Back DBL IPA – 9.4% ABV

Bringing EXTRA Sexy Back is… back! This DIPA is an amped up version of a favorite, dry-hopped with Mosaic. It’s giving us sweet berry, ripe peach, & mango, all wrapped up with a smooth dank finish.

Baby Shark IPA – 5.5% ABV

This fresh lil’ Baby is dry-hopped with Citra & bursting with ripe flavors of grapefruit, stone fruit & soft clementine. Ultra thirst-quenching and ready for a swim down to that belly.

Volcano Sauce – fruit sour – 6% ABV

Blueberry, blackberry and a hint of vanilla round out the tart in our core sour.

Orange Cream DBL Marbles IPA
Welcome back to 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀! It’s everything you love about our original creamsicle-inspired Milkshake-IPA taken to it’s orangiest evolution. With this recipe, we doubled the amount of orange and vanilla for the ultimate creamsicle tang, brewed with milk sugar for a dreamy mouthfeel, and then dry-hopped with Amarillo and Citra hops to add some tropical complexity. This boozy milkshake is sure to keep those great summer vibes rollin’. Happy solstice! (8% ABV)

Dino Bits DDH DIPA (Toppling Goliath Collab) – 8.2% ABV
As many of you know, the Toppling Goliath crew has built an incredible reputation with iconic brands like Pseudo Sue & King Sue. So, needless to say, we are pumped to have created not one, but two incredible hop beasts, because as you know… life finds a way!

This 8.2% hazy monster has a citrus-forward and fruity bite that beautifully melds the two worlds between Juicy Bits and TG’s Sue series. We might be insinuating here, but the hop trifecta built into Dino Bits DDH comes together like a mosquito preserved in amber, and inside it holds the secrets to creating an astounding new IPA DNA.

If there’s one thing you need to know about Teal Label, our WestCoast IPA, it’s that it’s packed with our hand-selected Columbus Cryo, Simcoe, Strata & Citra hops. It is an IPA, after all.

Die Dreaming Smoothie Fruit Sour Inspired by the unique and popular smoothie drink of The Dominican Republic, Morir Sonando, or To Die Dreaming. We took inspiration from this delicious beverage and blended loads of orange, pineapple, and milk sugar for a creamy tropical sweet treat.

Brain Fuzz Smoothie Fruit Sour
Inspired by the classic Lime Rickey. Tart citrus and sugary cherry meld perfectly into a comfy nest of marshmallow sweetness. Luscious and vibrant red and bursting with stone fruit and pithy aromas.

Juicy Bits Hazy IPA
Our flagship IPA features a huge citrus and tropical fruit hop character from the Mosaic, Citra & El Dorado hops and softer, smoother mouthfeel from the adjusted water chemistry, higher protein malts, and lower attenuation. The end result is a beer reminiscent of citrus juice with extra pulp, thus the name Juicy Bits.

Nectaron Extra Extra Juicy Bits
an 8.6% DIPA brewed with Citra, Mosaic + El Dorado hops, and double dry-hopped with EXTRA EXTRA Nectaron hops. This “little” number is absolutely brimming with notes of tropical fruits, candied peach rings, grapefruit, and dare we say… gives off a whole Orange Julius vibe?!

Robo Boogie DBL IPA
New Zealand-style IPA brewed with with Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Rakau, and Wakatu Hops. ROBO-BOOGIE is a dive into the deep abyss of New Zealand-specific hops, namely Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Rakau and Wakatu. All are prized for their unique characteristics, from white grape and earth to “every corner of the orchard,” and they have come together in what is not just one of the most stylistically intriguing brews but also one of the BEST hoppy beers that we have made this year.

Blueberry Dive Margarita Gose – Great Notion Brewing Collaboration 6% ABV
Brewed with Great Notion over CBC week – This is a Gose style ale brewed with Malted White wheat & pilsner malts, then conditioned on Shit loads of Blueberries and mixed in Key Lime juice, Pineapple Juice, Agave nectar and Sea salt. I personally had a sneak peek at this beer and it’s fantastic for this summer weather. Pours purple/blue with little bits of blueberry remaining on the rim of the glass. Tastes like a wonderful fruit forward blueberry margarita!

Light crisp and less than 0.5% alcohol, this clean drinking beer is riddled with Hallertau Mittlefruh & Strata Hops.

Milkshake Style Double India Pale Ale with Orange and Vanilla
Loads of ripe, juicy oranges emanate from the can and fill the air with its bright, citrusy aroma. A copious addition of both Amarillo and Citra hops add some tropical complexity that is rounded out with sweet vanilla and milk sugar for a dreamy creamsicle tang. (8% ABV)

4 New Breweries to hit Iowa Shelves this week!

Four new breweries will be bringing their beers to Iowa shelves this coming week and more to follow! This week, we should start seeing the following:

**WELDWORKS**- Weldworks Brewing is located in Greeley, CO and will soon be opening a taproom in Colorado Springs as well. They are known for their Juicy Bits Hazy IPA amongst many other offerings. Very excited to have them come to our state and to learn more about them, check out their website by clicking HERE!

**UNTITLED ART** – Untitled Art is located in Waunakee, WI, a short drive from Madison. They are owned by the guys who own Funk Factory and Octopi Brewing and do many collabs. Check out their diverse portfolio by clicking HERE!

**FAIR STATE BREWING** – Fair State Brewing is located in Minneapolis, MN and like the above mentioned, has quite a large profile of beers. I know Mirror Universe has been seen in the DSM area before but hasn’t made its way further east. A wonderful taproom and beer garden and some really excellent beer, happy to have Fair State coming to our shelves, but it’s definitely worth a drive up north as well! **MODIST BREWING** – a brewery I was not very familiar with until a trip a few months back up to Madison where I landed some cans. Also located in Minneapolis, Modist adds to the wonderful array of breweries up north, making it a beer destination for sure. Here’s more on this brewery, click HERE!
