Oktobot 3000 (Barrel-Aged Imperial Märzen, 8.5%abv) – A fusion brew with German and Czech roots in the recipe as well as the name (“robot” is a word with Czech origins). Munich and Bohemian Pilsner Malt are the motherboard to this amped up version of the style, while 7 months in Willett Rye Whiskey barrels greases the cogs and makes sure it all computes.
Beer at Work (Australian-style IPA, 7.0%abv) – Heavily dry-hopped with Australian Vic Secret and a touch of New Zealand Motueka, this beer exhibits strong tropical fruit flavors known to come from the land down under where women glow and men plunder.

The beautiful thing about getting a particular craving when you live in between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City is that you can simply hop in your car and head towards either destination and places in between and satisfy that craving with one of the many amazing, locally owned restaurants/bars/breweries/pubs!
Sushi is definitely a craving I have often. There are a few very good sushi options in the IC/CR area and after reading and seeing many posts about this place, I finally made it to MIX sushi in downtown Cedar Rapids! MIX (210 3rd Avenue, Cedar Rapids) not only serves up some of the best sushi I’ve had, but also has options for the vegetarian and gluten free crowd!
I usually go overboard on ordering when I visit a new place and I did the same visiting MIX. I started off with the the “Angry Shrimp”. 3 jumbo shrimp stuffed with a sweet chilli jalapeno cream cheese blend, hand breaded and deep fried and served with some excellent sweet and sour sauce. This is also a gluten free option! The perfect start to the meal. Spicy, fresh, and delicious. It doesn’t need the sweet and sour because they are extremely flavorful but the sweet and sour is so good I doused mine in it! Would order again and on every single visit!
Next up – sushi time! Mix tuna roll – Spicy white tuna, cucumber, and avocado inside the roll with seared red tuna, mayo, spicy mayo, unagi sauce, and scallions on the outside. Refreshing, tasty, and just what I needed. A little dab of wasabi and I could hammer this roll all day long.
White Dragon Roll – Tempura battered and fried shrimp with cream cheese, cucumber inside and ebi shrimp, white tuna, honey mayo on the outside. The battered and fried shrimp give this roll and wonderful crunch and the honey mayo sweetness blends really well with a little tab of wasabi. Excellent roll!
Fire Dragon Roll – spicy tuna, cucumber inside. red tuna, red tobiko, spicy mayo outside. I didn’t think it was spicy as advertised but I really enjoyed this roll too. Refreshing, a bit spicy, and delicious and pairs perfectly with a cold Kirin Ichiban.
MIX is definitely worth visiting for the sushi crowd. Excellent service and wonderful food options. I would order the same things I ordered on my visit but I know I want to try it all! Check out MIX soon!
Woodland Pursuit – 6.5% ABV New Zealand IPA (Nelson sauvin, Riwaka, Motueka) brewed to balance a bit of juicy sweetness with the explosive character within these three New Zealand grown hop varieties. An Excellent refreshment for your favorite outdoor moments.
Evil Haze Factory – 8.7% ABV Double India Pale Ale brewed with Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, El Dorado + Lotus hops.
Lime in the Coconut – 4% ABV Meet our Berliner Weisse-style ale with lime, coconut and milk sugar. It’s a hybrid of bright lime acidity and creamy coconut sweetness that will make your living room, backyard, or the taproom feel just as good as any Tahitian beach would. PB&J Sour

Tropical Milkshake Double IPA brewed with Mango, Pineapple, Passion Fruit, Guava, vanilla, milk sugar and Citra, Rakau, Lemondrop and Sabro hops
Ambitions – 6.2% ABV Fruited smoothie sour with pineapple, cherry & lime. This beer is very cherry and pineapple forward with hints of lime on the finish.
dHop 35 – 8.5% dHop 35 pours a very vibrant yellow, releasing bright tropical notes of rainbow melon, bright citrus, mango, pineapple, and peach.
Fluctuation DDH DIPA – 8.1% Departures from Equilibrium are known as fluctuations. It pours a very hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and lychee with an undercurrent of sorbet and cream. Fluctuation tastes highly resinous and tropical with an assertive yet soft bitterness. We consider this fluctuation to be perfectly unbalanced.
Galaxy Flare DDH DIPA – 8.5% ABV Starting off with a base of white wheat and flaked oats, we used our 100% hand selected Victorian Galaxy in both the whirlpool and dry hop for the hop bill. Pouring a deep hazy yellow, saturated aromas and flavors of Florida navel orange, passionfruit, lychee, and grapefruit build into a dank #EQjuice forward finish with a balanced creaminess and a touch of hop bitterness. It seems like it took us lightyears to make our first All Galaxy DIPA, but we think it was worth the wait!
Photon – 4.8% ABV Photon is our light and crushable American Pale Ale loaded with pacific northwest hops. It pours a very hazy orange, releasing well-blended notes of apricot, tangerine, peach, mango, and pineapple. It tastes of soft juicy tropical fruits, hop resins, and a hint of biscuit. A smooth rounded bitterness with a touch of dryness ensures you’re ready for the next sip. This drinking experience is further enhanced with a soft and billowy mouth-feel that has made this the go to ale for the Equilibrium crew, especially when a productive day needs to follow a fun night.
Evergy Wave DDH DIPA – 8% ABV We are thrilled with Dream Wave Fluctuation. We revisited the Wave treatment with one of our favorite beers by paying tribute to the other side of the MC² relationship with energy. Energy Wave takes the MC² grain bill, increases the hops, and adds a touch of lactose. Energy Wave pours a glowing hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of mango, pineapple, lactose, and apricot. Energy Wave tastes like a succulent wave of creamy mango juice with a touch of sweet that is dangerously drinkable and balanced.
Oktoberfest Toasty bread and caramel notes with a firm bitterness for balance. Prost!

This huge, sweet, fruity, and rich stout will be sure to leave you wanting more after every sip. With a finishing gravity of 14 plato, the 13.5% ABV won’t even be detectable. Beware! If you have a sweet tooth this one may be dangerous.
Nelson Revengence – 8% ABV Absolutely bursting with Nelson, this collaboration single hopped IPA with our friends over at beer zombies is exploding with the gooseberry and tropical flavors that nelson is known for. All late addition hops and dual dry hops also get rid of any potential bitterness lending to an absolute juice bomb of a Hazy DIPA.
One Man Riot – 7.5% ABV Named for that friend we all have who can single handedly destroy a room without even trying, One Man Riot is our year-round Hazy IPA. Loaded up with Mandarina Bavaria, Citra and Nelson hops, this beer is juicy as hell. Enjoyed best with friends, homies, Star Wards fanatics and Conor McGregor…

Greens Greens Hazy IPA What does it take for your average pink blob to become a hero? Does it have to do with inhaling, holding it in your lungs for a bit, and releasing? Does it have to do with absorbing your enemies and becoming a little spacey? No. GREEN GREENS makes its triumphant return. Welcome the return of GREEN GREENS, our New England IPA hopped & double dry hopped w/ Sabro, Galaxy & Simcoe Cryo

Mostly M’s Mmmmm a *new* DIPA. Mostly M’s is a mouthful. Idaho7, Mosaic & Motueka mingle masterfully to manifest a magnificently multidimensional malt. Mosey on into the weekend with a 4-pack (or maaaybe three??) of this heavy hitter
Notes from the Underground – Drekker Collab Notes From The Underground is a Double Dry Hopped DIPA we did in collaboration with @drekkerbrewing! We’ve got a fever and the only prescription is… Voss yeast and dry hopping with Sultana, Sabro, Citra and NZH107! You thought we were going to say, “cowbell?”
Demonic Woodland Creatures Demonic Woodland Critters is a collaboration with our buds @thinmanbrewery out of Buffalo, NY. This Sour Ale is packed with raspberries, blackberries & lemon for a fruit-forward puckery flavor. Mellow marshmallow, macadamia nuts & milk sugar give it a delectably creamy mouthfeel & a touch of sweet.
Purple orange Starfish Starfish but make it PURPLE. A twist on one of our ol’ reliables, Purple Starfish is hopped with Citra, (a bit more) Mosaic & rounded out with Galaxy. This IPA is juicy & full of citrus-y flavor but still totally crushable.
Bringing Extra Sexy Back This DIPA is an amped up version of a favorite, dry-hopped with Mosaic. It’s giving us sweet berry, ripe peach, & mango, all wrapped up in a smooth dank finish.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Hazelnut imperial Milkstout – 2020 version Collaboration with Mikerphone Brewing This is the newest 2020 version of their infamous Bourbon Barrel aged beer. NOW IN CANS!
Festbier Oktoberfest Lager – 5.7% ABV We’ve brewed this beer every fall since 2014, and it’s usually one of our very favorite lagers of the year. We decoction mash Festbier, which means we actually boil part of the grain in order to capture the elusive malty but not sweet body that makes it such an absolute joy to drink in quantity.
Tasting Notes – Crisp but beefy, strong malt character, malty but not sweet. Well-balanced
Art & Agriculture DDH Hazy IPA – Collaboration with Pinthouse Pizza 6.6% ABV Beer is in large part an agricultural product, even though we don’t think about it that way very often. The aromatic quality of an IPA, for example, is determined by the quality of the hops that go into the tank. Art & Agriculture is a beer that’s all about hop selection. We happened to select the same lot of Mosaic from the Yakima valley for our 2020 crop year Mosaics as our friends at Pinthouse, and we thought we’d celebrate by brewing a beer with them. The hops selected for this year bring a ton of tropical and dank character to our beers, with a super high degree of intensity, and we’re happy to have a chance to show them off.
