Big news from the Clock House crew!

We’re proud to share that Clock House Brewing will be continuing the legacy of Iowa Brewing Company. As part of this exciting transition, we’ll soon be taking over operations at their historic 3rd Street taproom — and we’re getting ready to breathe new life into the space while honoring everything that’s come before it.

Honoring Iowa Brewing’s Impact

We want to take a moment to recognize and thank Matt, Craig, and Brian — the founders of Iowa Brewing Company — for everything they’ve built. Since opening in 2016, Iowa Brewing has played a key role in shaping Cedar Rapids’ craft beer scene. Their dedication to quality, creativity, and community laid a strong foundation that we’re proud to build upon.

Their taproom became a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, and their beers — from Surf Zombies to Iowa Eagle — became staples across Eastern Iowa. One of their proudest accomplishments was earning a silver medal at the World Beer Cup for Eagle Amber, brewed by longtime head brewer Mike Wing, whose craftsmanship helped define the brewery’s reputation.

We’d like to congratulate Brian and Craig on their well-earned retirement. Their hard work, vision, and passion helped cultivate something truly special here in Cedar Rapids. We wish them all the best in their next chapter and are honored to continue what they started.

Introducing: Clock House on 3rd

We’re reimagining the Iowa Brewing taproom as Clock House – 3rd Street, a lively, welcoming extension of our brand. Over the coming months, we’ll be renovating the patio, installing a small kitchen, and turning the space into a hub for cyclists, live music, and community events.

Clock House on 3rd will be a laid-back, inviting spot to connect with friends over a great pint.

We’ll be keeping Iowa Brewing’s core brands alive and well, continuing to brew, can, and distribute them across the state. At Clock House on 3rd, guests will be able to enjoy Clock House beers alongside Iowa Brewing favorites — including past hits and new releases that carry forward the creativity and spirit Iowa Brewing has long been known for.

We’re also excited to continue some of Iowa Brewing’s most beloved traditions — including the Annual Thanksgiving Day Cousin Eddie party and Blessing of the Bock.

Wider Reach for Clock House Beer

With expanded production capacity, we’re excited to begin statewide distribution of Witch Slap, our flagship hazy IPA, alongside a fresh rotation of specialty beers and seasonal favorites.

Temporary Taproom Closure

To prepare for this exciting transition, the taproom will be closed starting today as we begin renovations, deep cleaning, and reorganization to ensure everything meets our standards for quality, service, and experience. We appreciate your patience and can’t wait to welcome you back to the 3rd street taproom.

This is a big step for us — and we’re so grateful to the community that made it possible. Stay tuned for updates, behind-the-scenes peeks, and reopening announcements!

URBAN CHESTNUT STLIPA 6/4/16oz CANS – We pronounce it ‘sta-leep-ah’, you pronounce it how you like. STLIPA, an acronym for St. Louis India Pale Ale, is a well-balanced DIPA that uses Sterling, Cascade, Mt. Hood, Willamette, and Chinook hops. 8% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT FANTASYLAND 6/4/16oz CANS – Fantasyland – Noun; a place or circumstance existing only in the imagination or as an ideal; dream world. Origin – Midwest “Coast” of the United States. Need we say more?!, A wonderful West Coast Style IPA Midwestern Style, that uses Aramis, Citra, Mosaic, Cascade, Mandarina Bavaria hops. 7% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT BALKAN 6/4/16oz CANS – Balkan Helles Lager. This classic Helles Lager was brewed in collaboration with Balkan Treat Box and features notes of bread and a medium low hop bitterness along with a floral, spicy hop aroma. 4.8% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT CZECH PILSNER 6/4/16oz CANS – Czech Pilsner. Golden, peppery, herbal and clean-finishing, Urban Chestnut Brewing Company’s take on the classic Czech-style Pilsner Lager is here to help make the season bright. (The “merry” part is up to you!)The Pils-purist on any list is sure to appreciate its immediate bitterness and distinctive malt character. After all, the Czechs literally invented the Pilsner style… what a gift to the world! 5.3% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT GERMAN PORTER 6/4/16oz CANS – German Porter with notes of Dark chocolate, roast coffee. A lager that’s as rich as it is robust, and as dark as it is strong—does it get more German than that? UC’s version of the classic “Starkbier” is rightfully hefty, in both the ABV and mouthfeel departments. Less fruity than your traditional English recipes, this German Porter is best enjoyed after a long, hard day of winter chores… or, around a warm fire with friends and family this holiday season! 7% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT ZWICKEL 6/4/16oz CANS – Bavarian Lager. Pronounced ‘zv-ick-el’, the flagship lager of Urban Chestnut. It is an unfiltered, unpasteurized, German classic that finishes as a smooth-drinking, naturally cloudy bier. 5% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT DORFBIER 6/4/16oz CANS – Munich Dunkel. Some refer to the Dunkel style as the original bier of Munich and its surrounding villages (Dörfer). This everyday bier ranges in color and sweetness depending on the amount of Munich and roasted malts used. The sweetness of the malt is then balanced by the use of another Bavarian friend…the Hallertau hop…in this specific case, Hersbrucker, grown near Wolnzach, Hallertau. 5.2% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT STAMMTISCH 6/4/16oz CANS – German Pilsner. A “Stammtisch” is an informal group meeting held on a regular basis – more directly translating to ‘table for regulars’. Our Stammtisch was brewed to celebrate this idea of community and socializing. It’s a traditional German Pilsner featuring a blend of Hallertau and Strisselspalt hops, giving it a pronounced herbal and spicy aroma. It’s crisp and dry with a light grainy malt profile. We think it’s the perfect accompaniment to any gathering. 5.4% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT SCHNICKELFRITZ 6/4/16oz CANS – Bavarian Weissbier. The unmistakable characteristics of this Bavarian Weissbier are achieved with a yeast that is decidedly fruity and phenolic. You may note clove, nutmeg or even vanilla and/or banana-like aromas and flavors. 5% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT Prickly Pear Ku’damm 6/4/16oz CANS – Prickly Pear Berliner Weisse. Prickly Pear Berliner Weisse is pale gold and hazy with clean, lemon-like tartness, light body and light doughy-ness. 4.2% ABV – MO
URBAN CHESTNUT KU’DAMM BOCK 50L KEG – “Berlinerweissbock”, a very pale, sour, moderately strong wheat ale based on a traditional Berliner Weisse. 6.2% ABV – MO
