Big Grove Drive Thru returns this Saturday! (2/20) Hopocalypse Vol. 5!

Big Grove Brewery will be brining their amazing drive thru option back for beer and food lovers this coming Saturday morning (2/20)! The last series of the popular Hopocalypse series will be releasing which features:

*Great Scott – this will be a hazy double IPA brewed with Galaxy hops.
*Doctor Voralouf – Pieces are going missing from Big Grove Brewery, and we’re beginning to believe that Vorlauf aka head brewer, Andy Joynt, has plans to become the most powerful brewing machine in the world! Or at least he plans to get to that right after he takes down one of these west coast double IPAs brewed with Galaxy.

Along with the Hopocalypse release BG will also be bringing back the coffee shop series with the release of Mocha Dunkel. Mocha Dunkel will feature La Union Columbia coffee from JBC Coffee Roasters and Tanzanian Kokoa Kamili cocoa nibs from Mast Brothers Chocolate.

And don’t forget the food! Chef Smart is ready to dish out h Detroit Breakfast Style pizza for the drive-thru. You can place your order for any of these items AND they are having 25% merch sale on 5 of their comfy sweatshirts! Lots going on, order now and make your weekend great! https://biggrovebrewery.com/product-category/drive-thru/

Hopocalypse Vol. 5, Blackberry Lemon Sour, and Detroit Style pizza all part of Big Grove Drive Thru this weekend!

A perfect weekend to watch some football (Go Bills!), sip on some suds and have a couple slices of pizza. Big Grove can’t take care of 2 of those 3 things for you with their offerings this weekend as the Drive Thru is back baby! Here are this weekend’s offerings:

BEER
Hopping into the tap lines and onto the shelves of Big Grove is Hopocalypse Vol. 5 👾 In this first of three total rounds, we’re releasing a mixed four-pack that includes two 16oz cans of Baron von Taks and two 16oz cans of Knockout and Crash.

Baron von Taks, a west coast double IPA brewed with Simcoe, pays respect to our beloved Brewery Operations Manager, Josh Seiler. He’s a stickler for the details and a no-nonsense fella, so don’t be messin’… ya hear?!

Knockout and Crash are all-nonsense fellas. Wild card brewers, Matt Burkey and Lincoln Hackert are brought to life in 8-bit alter ego form in this Hazy Double IPA brewed with Simcoe. The battle waging between these two troublemakers and the Baron may be worthy of Christopher Nolan’s next blockbuster, honestly.

And because we stop at nothing to please… we are debuting an amazing new fruited sour this week, Blackberry Lemon Sour. With the perfect blend of sweet fruit flavors and sour lemon notes, it’s definitely a new favorite and we can’t wait to share it.

FOOD
Chef Ben is bringing back his Detroit-style Breakfast Pizza for the drive-thru (in Iowa City only)… order it by the slice with sausage or vegetarian and thank us later.

Food only in IC, but beers available in both Big Grove locations. Start your ordering by clicking HERE, cheers!

Big Ed + Tang O Rang Gusher highlight Big Grove’s Drive Thru Saturday this week!

big ed

Big Grove’s Drive Thru Saturday this week will feature two familiar beers but two we nonetheless crave! Big Ed and Tang O Rang Gusher are back and will be available this coming weekend! Preorder is currently live by clicking here! Here’s more on this weekend’s release and the announcing return of Hop Lopper!

Big Ed is out of the thanks and ready for good times… and he’s joined by Tang-O-Rang Gusher! This week’s edition of Drive-Thru Brews turns it up a notch with two Big Grove favorites for the *almost* weekly Wednesday pre-order and Saturday drive-thru parties.
Big Ed is a hazy double IPA harnessing the power of Easy Eddy and taking it up a notch with Sabro hops. This 7.8% New Englander brings the noise with the refreshing flavors of papaya and coconut.
Tang-O-Rang Gusher returns for the first time since April. If you know… you know. Close your eyes for a day at the beach courtesy of this 32 oz Crowler.
Next week, the Drive-Thru will take a week off before its return on August 15 with the release of Hop Lopper and a few other goodies.

Big Grove “Drive Thru Burgers” now Big Grove “Drive Thru Burritos”! + 3 more beer releases this weekend!

bg

With Big Grove opening back up both their Solon and Iowa City locations for social distancing dine-in option, the popular Big Grove drive thru on Saturdays is getting a little change up to make room for folks wanting to come to the restaurant! Instead of drive thru burgers, fries and beers from 11-2 it will now be drive thru breakfast burritos and beers from 9-11 a.m.! Preorder your burritos and beer by clicking here!

And just a quick thank you note to the staff at both Big Grove locations for the adaptability and also their generosity in still getting us beer and terrific food the last few months. Class act group of people! Onto the releases:

* Into the Woods kettle sour was originally brewed as part of a collab with our pals from Copper Kettle Brewing in Denver, CO. Lactose, blackberries, and raspberries give this Berliner Weisse a tart and fruity zing! If you haven’t tried it, it’s something special.
*A Better Tomorrow hazy double IPA returns after its debut during Hazepocalypse 2019. Many said it was the best of the six in that Hazy Series #jussayin 🤷‍♂️ Brewed with South African hops, this exceptionally fruity beer has notes of orange and sweet peach and a very smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
*Strawberry Lemon Splash Gusher tastes like… who knows?! These Gushers have been crazy—and crazy delicious. They’re made in a tiny fermentor on Fridays with more fruit than should legally be allowed in beer. Strawberries and lemons work together, right?

Big Grove Drive Thru returns! Jabroni Pils, Katie’s Day Off, Blood Orange Arms Race, Into the Woods, Dirty Little Secret, + Snowbird for this weekend!

big grove

5 more brews coming from the busy brewers and staff and Big Grove this weekend for their wonderful Drive Thru! You can start your preorder right now by clicking here!  Let’s get to the brews:

**Jabroni Pils – available in 4 pack cans. This is collab brew with Lua Brewing and if you’re interested, Big Grove will be going live on Instagram tonight with Lua owner Scott Selix. You can join that by clicking here:

5.2% ABV – Our collab with Lua Brewing is an Iowan’s take on an Italian classic: This beer is clean and refreshing with a crispy finish thanks to the Saphir we tossed in the dry hop. Saluti!

**Katie’s Day Off –

In honor of my day off, I asked the team to make the ultimate throwback hipster IPA for my fellow skinny jean wearing, laptop- wielding, head banging, West Coast drinking punkers out there.

This old school double IPA has the most perfect piney, dank hop build thanks to Columbus Cryo, Centennial, Chinook, and Simcoe hops.

Hazies begone! This one is bitter like your attitude and delicious like your (actual) taste in fonts and palettes.

**Blood Orange Arms Race – single can sale

Arms Race blurs the line between a pale ale and an IPA. Rich malt character offsets a massive hop punch. Citra hops steal the show with their gigantic tropical bouquet. Strong. Strong like bull. This version has blood orange added!

**Into the Woods

Something weird happened on the way to Colorado from Iowa. Some full-bodied midwestern lactose stumbled through a berry bramble and this perfect kettle sour was born. Raspberries and blackberries give a start, fruity zing and lactose adds ideal body to this delectable treat. From the fields of Iowa City to Denver’s Rocky Mountains, we know one thing: thirsty happens. When it does, support your local brewery, grab a can, and head into the woods.

**Snowbird

A little reminder of summer never hurts. This experimental sour gives you just that with a peach, apricot, and coconut concoction.

**Dirty Little Secret

Dark strong ale aged with raspberries. Notes of roasted coffee and chocolate.

Big Grove Saturday “Drive Thru” continues this weekend (4/18)! Colorado Smuggler and Summer Jam make their returns! + Blackberry Lime Gusher debuts!

summer jam

Another weekend of social distancing approaches and thankfully another weekend of Big Grove’s drive thru comes with it! This week’s online sale for the drive thru is up and active and two new beers to the menu will be Summer Jam and Colorado Smuggler! Adding to those is Blackberry Lime Gusher! Here’s more on these two delicious brews:

Summer Jam – 4.2%
Berliner Weisse inspired beer, Sidehill Sour, all jammed up with raspberries, blackberries, and cherries just in time for summer.

Colorado Smuggler – 7.2% – hazy IPA
Passionfruit, berry, lemon, citrus, and drifting cannabis notes are the result of some Strata hops we smuggled into the state of Iowa and brewed with our pals from Odell Brewing.

New to the list is Blackberry Lime Gusher, an experimental sour!

These three brews will join a long list of beers available, along with burgers and fries, that you can order right now through Big Grove’s website and pick up on Saturday between 11-2 at either BG location. The link is below, give it a click, order some suds and burger and have yourself a wondrous weekend!
