dimensional

Happy Anniversary to Dubuque’s Dimensional Brewing Company. It was a year ago when I was lucky enough to check the place out at their soft opening and you just knew they were going to be successful. This week they will be tapping some speciality beers, something new every day, so make sure you go check them up. Here’s their lineup!

🎂🎂It’s our Birthday Week, so we are tapping new beers every day leading up to our big Birthday Bash on Saturday!🎂🎂

🍻New Beers on tap🍻

Wednesday
Atlast Hefeweizen- 5.7% 9 IBU A different recipe than Key City. This Hefeweizen has added some smoothness and a more pronounced banana presence. The Beer was named after the business that was occupying Dimensional Brewing Company prior to the changing of the guard. (Available to go Wednesday)

Robot Voice -NEIPA- 6.6% 26 IBU Brewed with Galaxy, Citra, and El Dorado hops. This is the first time DBC has used Galaxy hops in a beer. We had to showcase the Galaxy. (Available to go Saturday)

Thursday
90 Mile Smile- Sour Gose 4.7%. Raspberry/Lime Margarita Gose in collaboration with our friends at Pulpit Rock from Decorah, IA. It’s fruity with a the right amount of lime and a slightly salty finish, just like a margarita! 90 Mile Smile was named for the approximate distance between the 2 breweries and the anticipation of the tasty beverages at the end of those 90 miles. (Available to go Saturday)

Friday
Bubble Baths With Nelson- NEIPA 7.2% 26 IBUs- Brewed with Nelson Sauvin and Citra hops. This is the first time DBC has used Nelson hops in a beer. We had to showcase the Nelson. (Available to go Saturday)

Saturday
The UnderCAKEer – Imp. Stout 12.2%- German Chocolate cake inspired Imp. Pastry stout brewed with cocoa nibs, pecans, coconut and lactose. We brewed this beer with Barn Town Brewing at Barn Town. (Draft Only)

You will be able to detect each of the flavors in this beer without being overpowered by any one ingredient. (Available to go Saturday)

Dimensional Brewing Ready to Roll!

I was lucky enough to get to Dubuque and visit Dimensional Brewing on a soft-opening night for the brewery and I came away completely impressed! Located at 67 Main St. in downtown Dubuque, pretty much right by Lot 1 and First and Main, Dimensional has all the makings to be one of the best breweries in the state, from the facility to the beer, these guys are good!

Upon walking in the place was shoulder to shoulder, the excitement was very evident. I had a seat next to my brother and brother-in-law at the bar and just dove right into a flight of beers. They had 10-12 beers on tap and I was impressed with the array of styles; from kolsch to stouts to sours to IPAs to Hefes, they pretty much had something for every beer drinker on the lines. Here’s what I had:

dimensional3.jpg

Beer #1: Claw Machine – New England IPA – 6% ABV – this NE IPA was creamy and had a wonderful nose of pineapple. Flavor was pineapple and oranges and it shone from first sip to last drink. Well done beer, would drink this every day.

Beer #2: Bill Brewski – New England IPA w/mosaic, simcoe, and citra – 7.9% ABV – the nose was citra dominant but the flavor was creamy melon. This drank so easy that the 7.9 abv is well hidden, a deliciously dangerous brew.

Beer #3: Coffee Milk Stout – lactose and Jumble coffee- 5% ABV – lots of coffee on the nose and in the flavor. They also had a hazelnut stout that my drinking companions really enjoyed. Nicely done stout!

Beer #4: A Little Drippy – kettle sour w/pink guava, passionfruit, and mango – 5.5% ABV – I was really impressed with this one and my mouth is watering thinking of it. Fruit galore and just enough of that sour pucker that sour fans love. If this is what they will giving us with sours, we are in for a treat!

Beyond impressed with this place. Not that Dubuque isn’t a town worth visiting but Dimensional has now put them on the Beer Lover’s list of destinations to hit up! They will be opening their doors to the public this coming Wednesday, Nov. 21st at 11 a.m. No food yet, but food trucks will be popping up. They are not filling growlers or crowlers at this time but they may change in the future. Check them out folks, you won’t be sorry! Cheers!

backpocketBackpocket Brewing based out of Coralville has announced they will be adding a taproom to Dubuque. The taproom will be located in the Dubuque Millwork District and will have special release and limited Backpocket beers available. Here’s more info on this announcement courtesy of Backpocket Dubuque along with pictures found on that link:

BACKPOCKET BREWING COMING TO DUBUQUE.

Backpocket Brewing will be opening a Taproom in the Dubuque Millwork district in early 2017. We will feature all the new releases/specialty Backpocket beers, those with limited availability. Initially we will serve drinks only, opening our doors to all local restaurants to deliver food to our patrons. In time we hope to make the same great pizzas that we serve in Coralville. We are super excited to bring our craft beers to Dubuque!

Enjoy the pics of the raw space. We will update you as we make it ours.
