Clock House releasing “Pineapple Witch Slap” and “Kickin’ Kangaroo” imperial IPA tomorrow! (7/15)

Just in time for the weekend are two releases coming from the fine folks at Clock House! Pineapple Witch Slap, which has been released before, and a new imperial IPA, Kickin’ Kangaroo, will be available when the taproom opens on Friday, July 15th! Kickin’ Kangaroo: We brewed up a bitter Imperial IPA and dry-hopped it with Australian hops. The result is a dank and grassy melon DIPA that finishes with just enough kick!

Pineapple Witch Slap: Our beloved flagship NEIPA infused with real pineapple. Get some while you can this won’t last long!

Clock House announces “Bake and Shake” series with the release of “Orange Dream” this Friday (7/1)!

A new series of 3 pastry sours titled “Bake and Shake” will be released by Clock House this Friday with the debut beer being “Orange Dream”! Here’s more on this release from Clock House, stay tuned for future releases in this series!

This Friday, July 1st will be the debut of Orange Dream. This sour features a plethora of White Sheet Cake, Glaze, Vanilla Beans and Orange Purée. This will be available in cans and on draft!

Court Avenue releasing 2 collabs (Lua + Reunion) in July!

Court Avenue Brewing Company will be releasing two new collaboration beers in early July. They’ve teamed up with Lua for a double NEIPA and then also teamed up with Reunion Brewing for an Italian Pilsner. Here’s more courtesy of CABCOs brewing’s Facebook page:

Those silly ReUnion bois David and Pete came down a while ago for a low n’ slow Italian Pilsner. It’s just about finished lagering and is refreshingly crisp. WATER COOLER ROMANCE starts with an all Pilsner malt base and then we threw in some of our favorite hops: Nelson Sauvin, Huell Melon, Hallertau Blanc and that classic baddie, Saaz.

Last week Zack from Lua popped down and was like, what if we do a hazy pale? And you know what, we tried and ended up with a Double NEIPA. Wild how that works. ROULETTE DARES is dapped up with an absurd amount of Citra, Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin hops and comes in heavy at a robust 8.4%.

Sneak Peek: Backpocket 10th Anniversary Stout

Backpocket Brewing’s 10th Anniversary is coming up this Saturday (6/11), and over the years their stout release is one of Iowa’s most anticipated releases and this year will be no different. I was lucky enough to get a bottle a few days before this year’s release and give it a taste.

Our 10th Anniversary Russian Imperial Stout is aged on roasted coconut, followed by 24 months in Mississippi River Distilling bourbon barrels with a heavy dose of vanilla bean. Rich whiskey flavors with accents of cinnamon, vanilla and oak.

Nose of vanilla, coconut and some chocolate. Head dissipates quickly, the flavor is a hint of sweet coconut up front, the barrel and vanilla mesh extremely well. Some coffee and chocolate notes in there as well, light, creamy, smooth and delicious. Definitely a beer worth seeking!

Lion Bridge releasing “Houby Daze Imperial Milk Stout” and “The Eye of Thiol” this month!

A new month means new releases for many Iowa breweries. Lion Bridge brewing will be releasing two new beers this month, an imperial milk stout and an IPA (draft only). Here’s more on these two releases:

Houby Daze Imperial Milk Stout

Fungophiles rejoice! A special Houby Days release! We cold steeped the famed Lactarius rubidus, aka, Candy Cap Mushroom in this stout to produce an earthy, maple character that we thought would be a great accompaniment to a robust mix stout base,

This Double Dry Hopped IPA is a delicious juice bomb thanks to a hefty hopping of Citra, Motueka, & Simcoe hops. An endless succession of juicy pineapple, grapefruit, and tangerine notes are leveled out with a hint of bitterness that resolves onto a smooth and refreshing finish.

Prince Goro Imperial Hazy IPA 
Coming straight from the realm of Outworld, our newest DDH DIPA will tear your tastebuds limb from limb. 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝗼 is a hulking hazy that’s fatally hopped with Citra, El Dorado, Idaho-7, and NZL 32-2 hops. The nuances of this IPA is honestly quite difficult to fully describe. Sure, there’s your familiar combo string of tropical pineapple and juicy citrus that’s intermingled with a sticky resin roundhouse. However, this new breed of experimental hops fresh from New Zealand impart some unique hop flavors yet to be classified by mere mortals…so we’ll just call it “essence of dragon.” (8% ABV)

I bring you love – Oak Aged Foeder Lager 
You’re out in the foeders forest, a glowing green shape comes towards you, they say “I bring you love” and look at your beer… Do you share your Czech Pils with them? It’s brewed with Bohemian Pilsner malt, Saaz Hops & Czech lager yeast. Then extensively lagered & conditioned in our oak foeders. Choose your own adventure. The truth is out there but, so are the lies. D’oh!

Water Pipes DDH IPA
Wwwwoooooaaaaahhh… Careful with your language there bud… They’re actually called “Water Pipes”. Comin’ in hot with piping additions of our selected Strata & extra dank newcomer Talus. Feel free to add ice, just not to the beer.

2 New Beers coming from Lion Bridge this month!

A new month means new beers and Lion Bridge Brewing will get the partying rolling on April 6th when they release the first of 2 new beers! Lemon Lime Cream Cheese Bar will come our way April 6th and then will be followed by Mount Trashmore Trail Mix on April 13th! Here’s more on these two beers:

Clockhouse “I Know Jack” NE IPA releasing April 8th! Proceeds to the “I Know Jack” Cancer Awareness Foundation!

When local breweries/restaurants get involved in raising awareness for non-profits, it sure makes your heart full. Clockhouse Brewing continues this wonderful tradition as they have teamed up with the “I Know Jack” foundation to raise awareness for cancer patients and their families. Let’s drink this beer, let’s keep this fight going…here’s more from Clockhouse:

We’re very excited to announce we recently teamed up with the I Know Jack Foundation and brewed a delicious NEIPA to help spread awareness and raise funds for this incredible local non-profit.
By raising funds, they support cancer patients and their families through survivorship.
We are collaborating to help further their goal to raise awareness about cancer, support those affected by cancer, assist with cancer research, and improve the survivor’s quality of life.
We understand that cancer affects the entire family and that it takes a community to beat cancer.
With that in mind we be donating a part of the proceeds of I Know Jack NEIPA back to the foundation.

Lua releasing multiple beers Saturday, April 2nd!

Lua Brewing out of Des Moines will be releasing some amazing beers in bottles and cans on Saturday, April 2nd! This is going to be an immensely popular release and it’s first come/first serve so plan accordingly! Here are the details from Lua:

Barrel Aged Stouts and Our First Can Release

Please join us Saturday, April 2 at 11am for our first CAN RELEASE. We’ll also release two new barrel-aged stouts.

The stouts will be released in 4-packs with two 375mL bottles of each blend for $100. Cans will be in 4-packs. All will be sold on a first come, first served basis when we open at 11am. Limits TBD.

WANDER (14.2%) is a blend of imperial stout bases aged 23 months in Willett and Weller bourbon barrels. Baker’s chocolate, espresso, vanilla, barrel.

FLEETING (13.9%) is a blend of imperial stout bases aged two years in Weller and Heaven Hill Rye barrels, before being rested on a massive amount of coconut. Rich fudge and coconut.

SUN FOR MILES (6.6%) is our new *flagship* hazy IPA. Generous amounts of your favorite hops were added both in the whirlpool and at dry-hopping, giving Sun For Miles bright flavors of POG juice, white peach, and sticky cannabis.

TINY BEAM OF LIGHT (5.7%, not pictured) is our beloved all-citra Hazer Lazer™. Crushable, sessionable, yet immensely flavorful, TBOL boasts dank aromas of nectarine, melon, and passionfruit. This beer is meant to be consumed in multiples.

SCIENCE IS MAGIC THAT WORKS (9.0%) is the result of some seriously cutting edge science in collaboration with our buds at Toppling Goliath and Sapwood Cellars. We utilized a revolutionary thiol-releasing yeast strain from Berkeley and Phantasm, a new-age form of powderized grape skin from New Zealand that is loaded with thiol-precursors. Mash hops, whirlpool hops, and a generous dry-hop with some of TG’s dank, extraordinary Nelson Sauvin hops produced huge notes of passionfruit and sauvignon blanc grapes. Thanks to TG and Sapwood for pushing the envelope with us on this one.

NAPPING UNDER THE ECHO TREE (7.0%) is a fruited sour featuring dragonfruit, passionfruit, mango, and guava.

SOME GRACE (7.0%) is a berry donut inspired sour, and features Oregon marionberry, boysenberry, blackberry, blueberry, and over 2,000 Krispy Kreme glazed donuts.
