Thew releasing “Cure-All No. 2020” barleywine: An Oakland Rd. Hy-Vee Exclusive on Oct. 17th!

Thew Brewing has teamed up with Oakland Road Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids for a special release of “Cure-All No. 2020” barleywine. This beer was made specifically for Oakland Road Hy-Vee and the release will consist of 16.9 oz bottles and it will be on tap with a special cheese pairing as well! Here’s more courtesy of Thew:

We brewed a barleywine for Oakland Road Hy-Vee and it has been aging in an apple brandy barrel from Cedar Ridge for nine months.Release details: A limited number of bottles will be available at our taproom release ($14, 16.9 oz. bottle). It will also be available on tap and Chris Luken, Oakland Road’s amazing cheese specialist, will be creating cheese boards to pair with the beer that will be available to enjoy in our taproom or to go. Details on cheese boards coming next week!Thew Brewing kindly requests that guests wear masks when moving about our taproom and observe social distancing guidelines. Per the Iowa ABD, guests must be seated while consuming food or beverages.

Oakland Rd Hy-Vee Bourbon County Release Info

bourbon countyHere’s the email I received from Oakland Road Hy-Vee concerning their Bourbon County Stout release. I hope everyone gets a bottle or two if you are looking for it!

It’s that time of year again and I wanted to drop you an email to inform you how we will be handling our release this year. On Monday, November 30, at 4:30 we will start handing out tickets for this year’s release and any variants we receive. At around 5:00 o’clock we will determine if we have enough beer to go around and if not we will then draw tickets and try to make sure as many people receive some as possible. Thank you for your understanding in this situation where it is hard to supply what everybody wants.

We have a last minute beer tasting to tell you about, stop in tomorrow from 4:00 – 5:30 and sample Funkwerks Beer and visit with the owner of the Brewery. We will offer a 10 % discount on the beer while the sampling is going, as an extra bonus the owner is going to Parlor City after he is done here and if you take your receipt from here down there, they will take half off your first pint of Funkwerks.

We are coming up on an exciting time in craft beer, we are going to celebrate everything about craft beer with back to back weeks of recognizing everything that is great about craft beer. We are going to start off with the first annual Cedar Rapids Craft Beer Week. You will see lots of events going on right here in Cedar Rapids that week which will lead right into American Craft Beer Week which will focus on all American Craft Brewers. We will host a few events during these weeks and couple of which will be two fantastic beer dinners.  If you are interested in either of these beer dinners, please email me back to reserve your spot today. Its Founders KBS time at your Oakland Rd Hy-Vee. We will be releasing our KBS at 5:00 pm Tuesday, April 1st. Just like the hopslam event we will hand out tickets starting at 5:00 which will be good for one 4 pack of KBS. Supplies of KBS are highly limited but don’t worry if you don’t get a KBS we have stashed back some Backstage Series Beers for some extra excitement!
