It’s time for a MINI TAP TAKEOVER! Monday, November 14th, Fair State Brewing Cooperative is taking over Tin Roost tap lines to showcase their delicious brews. From 4-6PM you can try out their beers, speak with the expert owners, and get your hands on some sick Fair State swag.
The three beers we are showcasing are… Dad Hat Amber Ale (In collaboration with Lua Brewing), Mirror Universe Hazy IPA, and Work Life Balance English Barleywine.

It’s that time of year! For the 3rd year in a row I’ve teamed up with Gly-Mawr The Local in Mt. Vernon, IA to put together an Iowa-only beer advent calendar! We tried to include as many Iowa breweries as possible and also to include different options than we had last year! With that being said, I’ll be giving one calendar away to one lucky winner! Two big releases this week coming from Backpocket Brewing! “This is Fire” will be released this Friday (10/7) and “Iowa Nightmare” will be coming at us on Saturday (10/8)! Here’s more on these two delicious sounding releases!
Friday 10/7 THIS IS FIRE! This double dry hopped IPA was brewed with our friends at Reserve Artisan Ales! This hazy IPA is crafted with Flaked Wheat and Golden Promise Malt for a full body and soft, pillowy mouthfeel. Ekuanot and Galaxy hops create a flavorful IPA, with flavors of citrus, peach and passionfruit.
Saturday 10/8 Iowa Nightmare! This pumpkin stout was barrel aged in Mississippi River Distilling Company barrels for 9 months. This big, bold stout has flavors of oak, coffee, chocolate, and dark fruits. After being in barrels, we added squash purée and pumpkin pie spices for the perfect seasonal treat!
Great Outdoors – 8.2% Birds chirping. Butterflies fluttering. Creeks gurgling. Deer frolicking. The leaves changing… or if you live in the city, more than likely some car alarms, some sirens & maybe a rodent dragging a slice of pizza. This can, chock-full of our Hand-Selected Idaho 7, Idaho 7 Cryo & El Dorado, is meant to bring you a little moment of bliss, wherever you may find yourself.

We took our base sour ale recipe and amplified it with some of the most delicious flavor combinations we could think of along with a healthy dose of milk sugar. The complimentary and contrasting adjuncts come together for a tart, yet sweet and full bodied wave of “off the beaten path” flavors
Sonic Painting – A fun Smoothie-style Sour Ale loaded with Mango, Red Prickly Pear, Pink Guava, Marshmallow and Milk Sugar. Inspired by eating the slices of fruit from the rim of your tiki drink for the health benefits. We’ve all been there. Drippy sweet mango, tart guava, and red prickly pear with a slight earthiness all blend into a drink reminiscent of early vacation mornings
Brain Fuzz – Inspired by the classic Lime Rickey. Tart citrus and sugary cherry meld perfectly into a comfy nest of marshmallow sweetness. Luscious and vibrant red and bursting with stone fruit and pithy aromas. Perfect for dreaming of spring in the waning days of winter
King Al – King Al is BACK! – limted quantity – no limit
MC2 IPA – MC² is Photon’s big brother. We literally took Photon’s hopping rate and squared it. This DIPA is our tribute to the amazing relationship that energy and mass are balanced, proportional to the speed of a photon squared. It pours a hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and apricot. MC² tastes like succulent mango juice loaded with chewy hop resins. It’s very drinkable for 8.0%; be careful, this one can sneak up on you
Astral Projection – Astral Projection into Multiple Galaxies is our first collaboration with our friends from Widowmaker Brewing. We set out to have an out of body experience with mind, body, and soul and travel into multiple galaxies by using a hop combination of Galaxy, Strata, and Apollo Hops. Astral Projections into Multiple Galaxies pours milky yellow with aromas of passionfruit creamsicles, lemongrass, and pineapple and a cosmic flavor profile of mango, orange sherbet, dank passionfruit, grapefruit, and lime PEZ candy with an assorted melon salad #EQjuice finish that will mentally transport you to the galaxies above
dHop 44 – Pouring vivid yellow, bright aromas and soft flavors of fresh squeezed OJ, mango slices, green nerds, and dank papaya orange smoothie lead with a huge chewy mouthfeel bursting with our #EQjuice rainbow melon finish. This is one of the most hop-saturated dHops we have even done yet.
Alfajores – Alfajores are popular South American dessert typically made with soft cookies pressed together with a sweet gooey filling in the middle. To emulate this classic, we conditioned a big base stout on Honey, Almonds, Hazelnuts, Coconut, and Madagascar Vanilla. Alfajores pours pitch black with a frothy tan head. Decadent notes and flavors of fudge brownie, almond shortbread cookie dough, Ferrero Rocher Hazelnut chocolates drizzled with honey, and coconut mudpie come together in a creamy and velvety finish with the perfect amount of honey to offset the chocolate malts. This beer is a fun one and is literally liquid dessert in a glass

Super Fractal Koru Set – Super Fractal Koru Set pours a vivid hazy yellow with an aroma of tropical citrus and lime. The flavor is bright candied orange peel, black currant, and white grapes with a light lime finish. This is a crazy one with some intense fruit tones. This beer is extremely aromatic and crushable with a big #EQjuice profile that might just leave you seeing beautiful and spirals shapes yet again

Away From the Norm – This 6% ABV American Amber Ale has dark shades of natural gold on full display. Moderate maltiness is balanced with a steady hop profile for a smooth yet complex flavor. Meanwhile, subtle notes of dark molasses and caramel hover right under the palate and really boost the overall composition
Loose Candies – This 8.4% ABV seasonal DDH DIPA is loaded with a haunting amount of Citra, El Dorado, and Vic Secret hops for a rich party bowl of sweet treats. Triple Spilled – Blackeberry, Cotton Candy, Lemonade – Our Triple Spilled base loaded with blackberries, blue cotton candy and pink lemonade for a Texan sized treat
Triple Spilled – Passionfruit, Raspberry, Ice Cream – This brew features our classic Spilled base conditioned on passionfruit, raspberry, marshmallow, and vanilla ice cream. Double Spilled – Smash – We brought a green monster out for this week’s release. SMASH is gushing with juicy mango and white grape then finishes strong with passionfruit and vanilla ice cream
Pecan Shandy Stout – Well when our boy at Prolyfk wanted to get down on some double mash stouty magic we just couldn’t say no! We loaded this thicc boi up with toasted Texas pecans, cinnamon, marshmallow and of course, Pecan Sandy cookies!
Blue Light Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae – We brewed a thicc and luscious pastry stout and turned it into a Brownie then added all your favorite Sundae accessories – chocolate chunks, vanilla whip, and all the fudge we could find in a 5 mile radius
Song of Rice and Fire – This little summer crusher is made with drinkability in mind. We brewed up this batch with rice then fermented with a neutral lager strain to keep it light and refreshing before dry hopping with Wakatu
Bushel – A gose with heritage cider apples and baking spices. Tart, salty, and delicious
Teak Fruit Tart – Tropical American Fruit Tart brewed with 800lb of Pink Guava, 800lb of Pineapple, and 400lb or Key Lime per 30bbl batch
Braaaaaaains Blackberry Cherry Plum A new Braaaaaaaains! We stuffed this one with Blackberry, Cherries and Plum and then hit it with our double secret smoothie treatment of sea salt, lactose, and vanilla!⠀
NEW – Two Right Eyes – Hazy DBL IPA
For this banger we set out to laser focus our vision, flip our perspective and get weird with our hopping scheme. To kick it off we chose our lovely and hand-selected Citra & Mosaic. It’s all very nerdy and scientific but basically we reimagined a totally new dry hop schedule and used our evil robot centrifuge to create a total juice unit. It simply explodes with notes of apricot, pineapple, kiwi, melon and that sticky icky dankness we just can’t get enough of. ⠀
Prrt – So Good You know you’re in for a good time when you see people walking around with cotton candy, and this one’s definitely a good time. PRRRT So Good is loaded it up with Strawberry & Blueberry and then hit it with cotton candy floss for that real melt in your mouth, sticky fingers at the fair cotton candy flavor.⠀Contains no lactose.
Chonk – Birthday Cake Oh lawd… We took this sundae sour and baked it up with a mountain of confetti cake, filled it with strawberry and raspberry jelly then covered it in frosting and plopped a candle on top. It’s our party and we’ll Chonk if we want to!
