Drink This! Reunion Tropic Nightmare DDH Brett IPA

When Reunion was teasing this release and having Wake involved in the brewing process, I was already sold. Reading further about this release and being a fan of Brett IPAs, I was super excited to have the chance to get my hands on some of these brews! Here’s the description from Reunion:

Brewed in collaboration with the wizards of WAKE BREWING. This nightmarish IPA was fermented with Brettanomyces Claussenii for a funky and tropic twang and dosed with heaps of Cryo Mosaic, Citra Lupomax and El Dorado Lupomax.

There have been a few Brett IPAs that I’ve really enjoyed. I was lucky enough to score Allagash’s “Little Brett”, which I enjoyed, but wanted a bit more hop presence. The Stone Enjoy After Brett IPA was tasty and I did purchase multiple bottles and enjoyed them. Crooked Stave has been a favorite brewery of mine and their Hop Savant was outstanding, tons of barnyard with a splash of hops….and then Tropic Nightmare came along….

First of all, this beer is beautiful..I’ve had a fresh pour from Reunion and multiple cans and it’s a stunning beer. Orange juice look with a thick frothy white head. Aroma is hops up front, dank and lovely. If you keep your nose in the glass for a bit longer you get that barnyard funk that brettheads love and desire!

Extremely refreshing! The funk shines and is wonderfully balanced with the hop bill. Tartness from the brett on the back of the tongue but also that refreshing and juicy splash of hops. Complex and delicious. Lots of flavors going on in this beer and for me, all of them wonderful.

This has been such a sight for sore eyes release. Something different, something new and a tip of the cap to Reunion and Wake for going in on a style that hasn’t necessarily dominated the market and totally crush it with Tropic Nightmare. Worth seeking, I’ll need more! Get to the brewery on the Coralville Strip and Drink This beer!

Astrophysics IPA
Our love of Space, Science, Photons, E=MC^2, General and Special Relativity, and Galaxy hops come together in Astrophysics. Astrophysics takes the laws of physics and applies it to astrological theories to answer the hows and whys of our planets, stars, and galaxies. We find staring at the night sky and asking ourselves our own hows and whys is more enjoyable with a nice crushable IPA featuring 100% our hand selected Galaxy hops.

Maple Blueberry Lemon Grunt Sour
Pastry sour ale with blueberry, lemon juice & other natural flavors. Grunts are biscuit or dumpling-topped stewed fruit desserts that are cooked on the stovetop in a covered Dutch oven or cast iron skillet. The dessert is native to New England. They are very close to cobblers in construction but the topping is steamed cooked on the stovetop rather than baked.

Mexican Style Chocolate Pot De Creme Stout
Imperial stout with macadamia nuts, cinnamon, vanilla, cocoa & chocolate. This dessert is typically very creamy and pack a serious dose of dark chocolate. Spiced with cinnamon and cayenne, they have a subtle, lingering heat.

Moonguts DDH DIPA

Oatrich Oatmeal Dbl Stout
Oatmeal Double Stout – Double Stout w/ flaked oats, malted oats, Golden Promise, caramel malt, roasted chocolate malts. Rich in flavor and texture thanks to an extended boil and 30% oats in the malt bill.

Monogatari Gose
𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶 is a Gose with crushed Black Limes and Kabosu citrus and packs quite an elaborate palate. The black limes are dried out in the sun until they lose all water content, turning black and savory which imparts a wild citrus/smoke funk. The Kabosu carries some sharp zest character tempered with honey-like sweet undertones which all plays very nicely with the overall composition of the base sour. (6.5% ABV)

Blackberry Dbl Marbles Milkshake DIPA
We’re bringing back a popular winter-friendly Marbles for you to enjoy as the temperature continues to plummet. 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 is a doubled version of our original Blackberry Marbles recipe but with double the hops, double the fruit, and double the FUN. This Milkshake DIPA is loaded with Blackberry, Vanilla, Milk Sugar, and hopped with hefty amount of Mosaic hops. An incredibly silky mouthfeel and a delightfully hoppy finish with nearly zero bitterness makes this Marbles a juicy drupelet of fruity flavor. (8% ABV)

Intentional IPA
Intentional IPA delivers the distinctly and delightfully bitter characteristics of Mosaic and Citra hops, refreshingly punctuated with pineapple and peach notes. This sessionable IPA offers a full-flavored, alcohol-free experience for any intentional occasion. Intentionally brewed to savor the moment, acknowledge the things that bring us gratitude, and inspire kindness to #RaiseWellbeing.

Drink This! Lion Bridge Silvia

In the day and age where hazy IPAs, fruited sours, and pastry stouts are the craze and dominate the release landscape of craft beer, Lion Bridge brewery in Cedar Rapids release a style of beer that my taste buds have been craving….a farmhouse ale! YES! REJOICE! As much as I love every style of beer I was ready for this one to hit my lips! Brett, barnyard funk, and wonderful hop aroma, exactly what I needed!

*STYLE – Farmhouse Ale
*ABV – 5%
*AVAILABILITY – On tap and in bottles

We hand-selected a blend of Brettanomyces and wild beer from our wood program and then dry-hopped it with Vic Secret hops and naturally carbonated kegs and bottles.

The nose is superb. Vic secret hops pair perfectly with the brett to give it that wet hay/barnyard smell that makes farmhouse ales so spectacular. First sip was exactly what I was hoping for, hops up front with the funk on the back of the tongue, wonderful dry finish and slightly tart – just right and just what I was looking for in this beer!

If you’re a funk head, love brett, and are looking to go back in time a bit in the craft world, this beer is a must try! It’s on tap now or you can stock up your cellar as it’s available in bottles too! Get out there and DRINK THIS beer!
