Big Grove 5th Anniversary Can/Tap Release Details

big groveBig Grove is staying busy as hell prepping for their big 5 year anniversary party this coming Sunday. They’ve now released what will be available for purchase at both Solon and Iowa City locations. Big Ed and Double Blackberry sour will be on draft and available in cans, Good Day to DIPA will be tap only in Solon and Iowa City, Pralines and Richard will be tap only Solon, and Stripe Cake will be 22 oz bottles and tap at both locations. Hopefully see some of you Sunday morning in Solon! Cheers!

 

Iowa Turf War: Tap Takeover Presented by Pig and Porter starting September 1st!

pig and porter1.jpgThe Pig and Porter restaurant located near the NewBo Market in Cedar Rapids will once again be playing host to the Iowa Turf War Tap Takeover. 2 Iowa breweries pitted against each other each week to see whose beers reign supreme! The bracket is listed below, pay attention to the dates and make sure you get to Pig and Porter to try the brews and eat their awesome food! Cheers!

This fall two Iowa breweries will be competing to become turf war champion. Each brewery will have 3 beers to sample (a flight of 6) then vote on who is better.
Who wins depends you your VOTE!
Special food, prizes and brewery swag will be available during the event and a chance to meet the brewers.
Entry is free, you only need to buy a flight to vote.
Seating is limited so come early (event starts at 5pm)

Farm Dinner part three! We’re excited to partner with Kroul Family Farms once again! Chef Ben Smart, Chef Nathan Woody, and Chef Matt Prince and the rest of the Pullman team invite you to join us on Sunday, September 16th for a culinary experience you won’t forget! Cocktail hour will begin at 3 pm with a family-style dinner immediately following. Courses will be paired with wine and beer of our choosing.

BeerCast #5: Talking Drink Local Festival and Thew Brewing!

We had awesome conversation with Mark Jensen and Matt Franklin from Cedar Rapids Brewing Society on their upcoming Drink Local! Festival which is happening this weekend at Benz Beverage Depot in downtown CR. Tickets available here. $25 now or $30 at the door. We were also joined by the proprietors Thew Brewing, Travis and Haley Flenker who talk about what is coming up for their brewery in the next few weeks. The fellas and I are back with BeerCast Episode #5 and we will be recording live from Thew Brewing Company in Cedar Rapids this Thursday night starting around 5ish. If you’re in the area or just want to stop down and say hi please do! This will no doubt be an informationally charged show that you won’t want to miss…..but in all seriousness, we love talking beer and talking with fellow beer lovers. Haywood will have one of his infamous rants, Matt will be delving into some beer related news articles, I’ll break down the happenings and goings-on in the area and our Host will no doubt have some cool beer related games/activities planned and the insanely difficult job of keeping us on track!
