It’s been a while since I’ve been able to post about new and exciting restaurants in the area. I’ve found myself frequenting my go to spots, but this past week I was able to finally get to Moys! Food From the Streets and after this visit, this will be added to my go to spots for sure.

Moys (4201 42nd St NE, Cedar Rapids, IA) focuses on Latin American street food and has a stellar lineup of apps, tacos, sandwiches, and more. The menu may look small, but every item packs amazing and fresh flavors. Let’s get into it:
A few apps first. Moys has a terrific HAPPY HOUR from 2-6 Tuesday through Thursday and so we every appetizer on the menu…all three…seriously…turned out to be about 10 bucks for the three of them.

*Guac – chunky, perfect amount of salt, lime, tomato and cilantro. One of the best guacs I’ve ever had and served with what appears to be house made tortilla chips. This will be ordered on every visit.
*Salsa sampler – the pineapple verde was my favorite and if I knew the habanero one wouldn’t light me up all night I would have eaten the whole bowl of that as well. Wonderful combination of fresh salsa, smoky, sweet and tangy. Excellent start!
*Queso Fundido– so damn good. Served with corn tortillas. Chorizo was perfectly spiced and the mix of cheese and peppers with a tortilla filled with caramelized chorizo was terrific.
All in all you can’t go wrong with all three of these and remember that “Happy Hour” deal!
Sandwich time!

*Cubano – One of the best Cuban sandwiches I’ve ever had. Tender pork with ham, pickle, mustard on a freshly toasted baguette. An absolutely phenomenal sandwich and you might as well treat yourself to Moys truffle fries because they are outstanding!
*Birria Grilled cheese – a cheese crusted grilled cheese filled with tasty Birria meat and served with an delicious consomme! This is a must try and might be up there as one of the best sandwiches in Cedar Rapids!
Taco Time!

I forgot to get a picture of the three taco platter, I did get these tasty shrimp tacos! Tasty shrimp with pickled red onion and a jalapeno ranch sauce? with fresh cilantro. I could eat these all day.
OVERALL: Moys is a treasure and I’m very grateful that they have set up a brick and mortar spot in Cedar Rapids. Get there as soon as you can and enjoy their delicious take on Latin American street food. I’ll be back soon!
