It’s giveaway time! I will be giving away (1) free weekend pass to Surly Darkness Day which is held this year from September 27th to September 28th at the Somerset Amphitheater in Somerset, WI. The party kicks off on Friday with Dawn of Darkness beer festival which features 20 breweries from around the country not found in Minnesota or Wisconsin and will include Mikerphone, J. Wakefield, Other Half and TRVE. Then it’s the main event on Saturday when Darkness Day happens! This is when you will get your bottle of Darkness and have the opportunity to get variants as well –Double Stuffed, Mole, and Old Fashioned. There will be other exclusive beers, cask tappings and a day of music!

Volunteers Needed for Surly Gives a Damn Event: June 17th, Snyder Heritage Farm

surly gives a damn.pngThe Surly Gives a Damn Team is at it again as they continue to provide time and support for communities around the Des Moines area. This time they will be helping at Snyder Heritage Farm near Ankeny removing brush and invasive species. They are looking for 20-30 people to provide some time and assistance! Here’s more info on this event:

SGAD IA Brush Removal at Snyder Heritage Farm
On Saturday, June 17th, from 9:00am-11:30am, join us and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation to remove invasive species from Snyder Heritage Farm! For over two decades, Snyder Farm has been slowly transitioning from a traditional farm to an exquisite blend of prairie, oak savanna, wetland and woodland ecosystems. It’s now a super-spectacular prairie oasis outside of Des Moines. We’re looking for 20-30 to help remove brush and invasive species from the area. Afterwards, we’ll grab a FREE thank you Surly beer to celebrate our hard work.

Surly Gives a Damn Event Heading to Ames; Volunteers Needed

surlyReceived the following email from Surly Brewing Company so if anyone is in Ames and has some free time; help out this great cause!

WHAT: Come Give A Damn at this city wide volunteer effort that brings the entire Ames community together to clean the city up for spring. We are looking for Surly Gives A Damn (SGAD) volunteers to tackle the trash as part of the ‘Stash The Trash’ event, http://www.vcstory.org. The event will take place in Reiman Gardens, Ames, IA. And, there’s FREE Surly beer afterwards for volunteers!
